Vanillekipferl Biscuit

Vanillekipferl biscuit

A traditional Christmas treat, Vanillekipferl are a must on any festive coffee table. Our fine Vanillekipferl made from delicious shortcake are the sweet heralds of the festive season. Making Vanillekipferl has never been easier with our baking mix – one mix is enough for two baking sheets.

For the dough:

  • 150 g soft butter
  • 1 egg (medium)

To roll out:

  • A little wheat flour

To dust:

  • A little powdered sugar

Preparation

Prepare the dough:

  1. Separate the egg. Put the baking mix, soft butter and egg yolk in a mixing bowl. Use an electric hand mixer (dough hook) on a medium setting to make into big rough crumbs.
  2. Then, knead by hand into a smooth dough. Leave the dough to rest in the fridge for around 60 minutes. Cooling the dough for longer makes it easier to work with. If the dough is too hard, just give it a quick knead through on a floury surface.

To bake:

  1. Shape the dough into 1 cm thick rolls on a floury surface and cut off pieces 4-5 cm long. Shape the pieces into crescents and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake on the middle shelf of a pre-heated oven. We recommend baking the Vanillekipferl with top and bottom heat.

Decorate:

  1. Dust the cooled Vanillekipferl with powdered sugar as desired.
